Dhvani : Visualisation of Sound

In Tantric Traditions, the Mantra is referred to as the science of cosmic vibration or mystic sounds. The exercise involved listening to music and visually representing it in the form of an abstract. Music has great power over humans and it has the power to align inner energies. It is one of the greatest force known to mankind. Great artist such as Tansen could influence weather through their music. Hence it is a conversation with the cosmos in the form of vibrations. In Mandukya Upanishad it is believed that the entire cosmos originated from the word ‘OM’. In Bible one of the verses state, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

The abstract above is inspired by a tribal song, originated in Wayanad, Kerala. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Wayanad and felt the bridge it creates between man and nature. The song invoked a feeling of prayer in me to Mother Nature. It felt like a calling to a higher Divine to manifest and bless the people. Hence an attempt has been made to integrate the five elements and in the centre of fire of penance, the Mother Divine Manifests herself. This song is a very powerful song to invoke the divine spirits of nature. The rhythmic structure of the music directed me to smooth and blended curves. I was able to explore the subtlety and the aura of the same subject between two listenings.
